All-In-One DIY CO2 Generator System
This is an incredibly simple and intuitive CO2 generator system. The base idea is "Citric Acid + Baking Soda = CO2", and since both of those are cheap everyday kitchen ingredients it winds up being a very cheap way to consistently supply your aquarium with CO2. When properly filled, a 1L tank will last up to a month depending on CO2 output.
Are you adding CO2 to your aquarium so your plants look prettier? Consider a better light first. A better light will make a much bigger difference on plant health and color than CO2 supplementation will. While CO2 injection is extremely helpful, we recommend only considering CO2 if you already have a good light. Check out our guides on lighting for more info.
We strongly recommend considering the 2L size upgrade, especially for larger tanks, as it will last dramatically longer and be much easier to operate.
These kits also include diffusers, regulators, tubing, and, most importantly, solenoids. The solenoids can be connected to smart plugs or timers to turn the CO2 on or off at certain times throughout the day, which keeps you from wasting precious CO2 or hurting your fish at night.
The kits do not include Citric Acid or Baking Soda. They're both available at your local grocery store, but it winds up being much cheaper to just buy a big bag of each on Amazon.
