AlgaRaid Next-Gen Aquarium Algaecide - Dry Algaecide with Plant Growth Boosters - Natural Algae Killer and Controller
AlgaRaid is the next generation of planted freshwater aquarium algaecides. Unlike all other fertilizer options, AlgaRaid combines all effective algaecides for freshwater aquaria to target all types of algae and any and all problems in your tank. AlgaRaid also uses an innovative approach to algae control by also including natural plant growth boosters (not nutrients) to encourage your plants to grow faster and absorb as many nutrients as possible. AlgaRaid is also in a revolutionary dry form, which allows it to last dramatically longer and makes it far easier to dose while in a much smaller container. And no exact measurements are necessary, dosing is measured exactly to a normal person’s pinch, but you can also use 1/8tsp to be more exact.
AlgaRaid comes in a premium 4oz container. It lasts an extremely long time, likely years unless you have a lot of big tanks.
AlgaRaid contains the main ingredients of all the main algaecides on the market, including Seachem Excel, API Algaefix, Easy-Life AlgExit, Green X, and more. It also contains sea kelp extract, humic acid, and other plant growth boosters. It works on two fronts, killing all sorts of algae with copper and oxygenating agents, but the growth boosters encourage the plants to grow much faster and absorb a lot more nutrients to permanently fix future algae issues.
Contrary to popular belief, algae is not caused by an excess of light OR nutrients, algae is caused by an imbalance in an ecosystem. Consider that most high tech tanks have extraordinarily powerful lights and huge amounts of nutrients dosed to promote colorful growth, yet a properly maintained tank can have nearly no algae. Algae happens when the ecosystem is thrown off balance- a change in lighting intensity, a change in nutrients, excess waste, lack of filtration, etc. AlgaRaid can’t actually solve these issues (no algaecide can), but it helps more than almost any other product by promoting plant growth which will help absorb nutrients and clean the water.
AlgaRaid is NOT safe for invertebrates. It should not be used on any tanks with shrimp. You should remove all snails from your tank before dosing and keep them out of the tank for at least a week after dosing for complete safety. It is completely safe for fish so long as you follow the dosing and water change method. Note that this product also works GREAT at removing snail infestations! (Although they’re generally beneficial for your ecosystem)
AlgaRaid treats all types of algae. It does not treat Cyanobacteria (try Blue Green Slime Remover). It may help with cloudy water but the best solution for cloudy or green water is a UV light.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Simply dose 1/8 tsp (one small pinch) of AlgaRaid per 10 gallons, once per day, for 3 days. Each day, before dosing, you should perform a 50% water change on your tank. It IS crucial that you perform a 50% water change EVERY DAY before dosing, as the copper can build up too high otherwise and become toxic to the fish. The algae may take some time to die, so after the 3 day dosing period you should wait a week before continuing use.
If you have very small or sensitive fish in your tank, you should dose half as much as recommended to ensure their safety.
You should also remove chemical filtration from your filter (Purigen, Activated Charcoal, etc) during the dosing period.
For best results, we also recommend a few other changes to your tank. Do NOT lower the lighting, as increasing it back afterwards will cause an imbalance and thus cause algae. Add an oxygen bubbler and, if possible, another filter to your tank. Add some floating plants if you don’t have any. And ensure you aren’t feeding much, ideally feed about half as much as you usually do for a few weeks.
You may also spot-treat tough algae by mixing a small amount of AlgaRaid with a bit of water to form a paste, then smearing it onto any problematic algae. Let it sit for no longer than 30 seconds then rinse completely. We recommend using gloves and not touching the paste directly.
